The Building Committee acts as the general contractor for Midcoast Habitat construction projects. The committee oversees all phases of construction, working with the Executive Director and Construction Supervisor on scheduling, materials procurement, and coordination of volunteer and professional labor. Members do not have to be construction professionals, but construction experience is desirable.
This committee evaluates applications for Midcoast Habitat houses, selects Partner Families (with the approval of the Board of Directors), and serves as a liaison between families and Midcoast Habitat. Choosing a Partner Family is a multistep process that must be fair, objective, and nondiscriminatory. This committee visits with prospective families to evaluate their current needs, and then works with partner families on tasks, such as budgeting, to ensure their success as homeowners. Family Selection & Support also plans home dedications and periodic Partner Family events.
The Finance Committee leads the annual budgeting process, oversees audit functions, and reviews and updates financial policy and procedure for both the affiliate and the ReStore. The members of the Finance Committee are responsible for the financial well-being of the organization.
This committee oversees the operations of the ReStore, training new volunteers, planning special sales and events, and making sure store policies and procedures are in place.
The Weatherization Committee oversees all aspects of this program, finding partner families, soliciting materials, and setting up volunteer dates.
This committee plans events and build times to support Habitat for Humanity International’s WomenBuild program. Any women with a desire to see MHFH grow and to help engage more women in this effort are invited to participate!
